Terms of Service

Last updated: 13 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Greg Bruss, who makes Polyglot Pro (“we”, “us”). They cover the Polyglot Pro iPhone app and this website. By using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Polyglot Pro.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data.

Who can use Polyglot Pro

You must be 16 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms, and to any purchase, with you.

What Polyglot Pro does

You tell a short story about your life. Polyglot Pro writes it as lines in the language you are learning, reads them to you, and helps you say them from memory. We may change, add or remove features over time.

Your account

  • The app makes a guest account on your iPhone the first time you open it.
  • You can add Sign in with Apple, or sign in with a link sent to your email, so you can open your account on another iPhone.
  • A guest account works only on the iPhone that made it. If you sign out of a guest account, it cannot be opened again. A guest account not used for 30 days is deleted, with its stories.
  • Keep your Apple Account and your email secure. You are responsible for what happens in your Polyglot Pro account.
  • An account is for one person.

Subscriptions

You make your first story, and learn its first line, before you choose a plan. What you can do before choosing a plan may change.

Polyglot Pro is a subscription, bought through Apple’s App Store. There are two plans: weekly, and annual. The price for your country is shown in the app before you buy.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
  • Your subscription renews automatically, for the same length, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. If you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Deleting the app, or deleting your Polyglot Pro account, does not cancel your subscription.
  • Your subscription belongs to the Polyglot Pro account you were signed in to when you bought it. Sign in to that account and tap Restore purchases to get it back on another iPhone.
  • If the price of your plan goes up, Apple tells you first and, where required, asks you to agree before you pay the new price.

Free trial

The annual plan may come with a 7-day free trial if you are eligible. The app shows this before you start. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the annual subscription starts and your Apple Account is charged. If you buy a subscription during a free trial, the rest of the trial ends.

Refunds

Apple handles all payments and refunds, under Apple’s rules, including any right to cancel a purchase that you have where you live. We cannot issue refunds ourselves. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.

Apple’s terms

Your use of the app is also covered by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, and your purchases by Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions.

Your stories

What you say or type, and the stories written from it, are yours. You let us store and process them, and send them to the companies named in our Privacy Policy, only to provide Polyglot Pro to you. We never publish your stories or share them with other users.

Only share what you have the right to share. Please don’t include passwords, card numbers, or private details about other people.

AI-written content

Stories, translations, explanations and transcripts are written by AI. They can be wrong, sound unnatural, or miss what you meant. The app’s check of what you said can mishear you. Polyglot Pro is a way to practise speaking. It is not a professional translation service, and you should not rely on it where a mistake could matter, such as medical, legal or official matters.

Fair use

Please don’t:

  • break the law, or use Polyglot Pro to harm, harass or deceive anyone,
  • try to make the AI write harmful or illegal content,
  • try to get into other people’s accounts or our systems,
  • copy, take apart or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it,
  • use bots, scripts or other automated means to use Polyglot Pro, or collect content from it,
  • overload or disrupt the service, or get around its limits,
  • sell, rent or share access to Polyglot Pro.

To keep the service working for everyone, we may set reasonable limits on unusual use.

Our app

We own Polyglot Pro: the app, its design, its name, and the content we make for it. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, as Apple’s Usage Rules allow.

Ending your use

You can stop using Polyglot Pro at any time. You can delete your account in the app under Account, then Delete account.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or when the law requires it. Where we can, we will tell you first and explain why.

If we ever stop offering Polyglot Pro, we will tell you at least 30 days before. You can ask Apple for a refund of any unused period.

Our responsibility to you

We work to keep Polyglot Pro useful and running, but we provide it as it is and as it is available. We cannot promise it will always work without interruption or errors, or that you will reach a particular level.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for lost data, profit or opportunity. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Polyglot Pro in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.

About Apple

If you got the app from the App Store:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
  • Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any. Apple has no other warranty duty for the app, as far as the law allows.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim about the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app does not meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection claims.
  • If someone claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo, or named as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must follow the terms of any third party you use with the app, such as your mobile carrier.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top. If a change matters, we tell you in the app or by email before it applies. If you keep using Polyglot Pro after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can stop and delete your account.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there.

If you have a problem, please email us first. Most things can be sorted out quickly.
